Spring is finally here – time to help your customers start the season with the spring cleaning how-to’s and essential products they need most!
Here’s a useful checklist to help your customers identify what needs to be cleaned and where specific maintenance may be required to get building assets looking their best and in top condition:
1. Look for Wear and Tear
Small problems can quickly become big and expensive issues, and after a long winter, certain areas are prime candidates for wear and tear. Cold temperatures, excess moisture, and salt can damage surfaces and materials. Special attention should be given to the following trouble spots:
- Ceilings
- Corner guards
- Doors and cabinets
- Desks and other office furniture
- Fire extinguishers
- Flooring tiles
- Light switches
- Storage shelves
- Tiles and grout
- Carpets
2. Rescue Winter-Weary Floors
Ice melt can play havoc with interior floors. At the end of the winter season, it’s important to shampoo carpets and properly clean hardwood, tile, and concrete floors, particularly in high-traffic spots such as entryways, hallways, and washrooms. Winter road salt, dirt, ice melt products and snow tracked into these spaces and can cause permanent damage to surfaces and fixtures.
Fortunately, the right procedures and product sets make it easier to refresh virtually any flooring material. Offer your customers our free Floorcare Guide to give them the help they need – ask us to customize it and we’ll add your logo and contact information, too!
3. Refresh Exteriors
Sweeping or spraying down exterior walkways, washing windows and window sills, and cleaning garbage and recycling areas are important to ensure facilities look clean and well maintained at all times.
4. Keep it Cool!
When not in use, cooling systems are susceptible to dust and dirt buildup, which can lead to lower efficiency, unpleasant smells, increased allergens, and even unit failure. Once the summer’s heat arrives, a faulty A/C unit is the last thing any business needs. Ensure all A/C units are cleaned and tested before use.
